Terms of Use

Sekura Talk is a public live text service designed for real-time conversation.

1. About Sekura Talk

Anyone may read the current live stream without registration. To send messages, a user must create an Identity using Passkeys / WebAuthn.

Talk does not provide a permanent archive of ordinary live conversations. Messages are intended to exist in the live stream rather than as permanent published records.

2. Reading without registration

You may read Talk without an account or Identity. You do not need an email address, password, phone number, real-name profile, or Passkey to read.

Identity is required only when you want to send messages or use other persistent Identity-related features.

3. Identity and Passkeys

Your authenticator creates the cryptographic credentials used to prove that the Identity belongs to you. Your private key remains with your device, authenticator, or Passkey provider. Sekura Talk does not receive or store it.

Talk may store the information required to recognize and operate your Identity:

credential_id
public_key
current_name
name_credit

A new independent WebAuthn credential may create a new Identity.

4. Your responsibility for messages

You are responsible for the messages, links, and other text you send through Talk. Every sent message is associated with a registered Identity. You must comply with the Community Rules and applicable law.

Talk does not guarantee permanent storage, recovery, replay, or later access to ordinary live messages.

5. #tags and the live stream

#tags filter and organize the shared live stream. They do not create private rooms, separate legal or contractual communities, or user-owned property. The same Terms and Community Rules apply throughout Talk.

6. One Identity, one current @name

Each Identity has exactly one current @name. A Talk name is not purchased as property; it is the current public name assigned to an Identity.

Talk does not provide collections of owned names, name portfolios, secondary resale, name transfers, or name auctions. When you change your current name, the previous name becomes available again.

7. Your first name

Your first available @name is provided without a name-change fee when the Identity is created.

name_credit = $0

You may later request another available name. A later name change may require payment.

8. Name rules

For names of 1 to 5 characters, only lowercase letters a-z are allowed. For names of 6 or more characters, the first five must be lowercase letters; after that, lowercase letters, digits, and hyphens are allowed.

The underscore is not allowed. A name may not end with a hyphen. Two consecutive hyphens are not allowed.

9. Name pricing

The normal price category depends only on length:

1 character → $10,000
2 characters → $1,000
3 characters → $100
4 characters → $10
5 characters → $5
6+ characters → $1

Price does not depend on meaning, popularity, profession, brand value, or perceived desirability. The requested name must also be available.

10. Paid name changes

Before payment, Talk shows the applicable amount. Payment is calculated using the current name credit:

payment = max(0, new_name_price - current_name_credit)

After successful completion, the old name is released, the current name becomes the new name, and name_credit becomes the normal price of the new name. The purchase does not create transferable property.

11. Changing to a cheaper name

If the new name has a lower normal price, payment may be zero. The difference is not paid as cash and does not remain as a separate balance.

old name credit → $100
new name price → $5
payment → $0
new name credit → $5

12. Name availability

A requested name must be available when the change is processed. Another Identity may take it first. Talk does not guarantee that a name seen as available earlier will remain available indefinitely.

13. Payments

Payments for paid name changes may be processed by a third-party payment provider. That provider may apply its own terms, privacy rules, technical requirements, and payment methods.

A paid name change is completed only after Talk receives confirmation of successful payment. Taxes or other charges may apply where required by law or the provider.

14. Refunds

Refunds for paid name changes are governed by the Refund Policy. Mandatory consumer rights under applicable law remain unaffected. Review the Refund Policy before completing a paid name change.

15. Community Rules

Use of Talk is subject to the Community Rules, which describe prohibited behaviour and the distinction between session filters, complaints, reviews, and temporary restrictions on sending messages.

16. Session filters

A session filter is a personal viewing preference. It may hide an @name or #tag in the current session. Filters affect only what that user sees, do not restrict another user's ability to speak, are not complaints, moderation actions, or bans, and do not create a permanent Identity-level block.

17. Complaints and review

A complaint asks Talk to review a possible violation by a specific Identity. It does not automatically restrict, delete, suspend, or punish an Identity. Multiple or coordinated complaints do not automatically prove a violation.

If a review confirms a violation, Talk may temporarily restrict the affected Identity from sending messages.

18. Temporary restrictions on sending

A temporary moderation restriction affects only the ability to send messages. It does not prevent reading Talk and does not automatically delete the Identity or current @name. Its duration may be determined by the moderation decision or a separate policy.

19. Lost Passkey access

Talk does not store your private key and cannot recreate it or sign a WebAuthn assertion for you. If your provider restores the same credential, it may continue to represent the same Identity. A new independent credential may create a new Identity.

Talk does not guarantee recovery where access to the required credential is permanently lost.

20. Service availability

Talk is a live service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance, technical failures, security incidents, network problems, infrastructure changes, or events outside our reasonable control may interrupt it.

Talk does not guarantee replay or recovery of messages missed during downtime or disconnection.

21. Changes to the service

Talk may change technical features, interface elements, limits, or operating mechanisms. Material changes affecting paid services, user rights, or these Terms may be reflected in an updated version.

22. Suspension for technical abuse

Separate from complaint-based moderation, Talk may apply technical protections against automated flooding, mass spam, malicious requests, technical attacks, infrastructure abuse, and known malicious links.

23. No guarantee of audience or response

Talk does not guarantee that another person will see or respond to your message, that a tag will have active users, that a particular audience size will be available, or that a chosen name will remain available before completion of a change.

24. Third-party links

Users may send links to third-party websites. Sekura Talk does not control those websites and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, or privacy practices.

25. Limitation of service

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Talk is provided on an “as available” basis. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits rights or liabilities that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
